Through the many years of playing, coaching and helping young players reach their goals, I’ve come to realize that perfecting the basic fundamentals of blocking works at any level. There are many aspects of offensive line play, run blocking, pass protection, play action, screens and draws. The philosophy of the offense will be highly impacted by your position coach the offensive coordinator and head coach.
Run blocking can be broken down into a few segments; I start in the middle, with what I call the fit, the optimal position to be in on contact, to give yourself the best chance of beating your man. Then we will work on stance to the fit, in the most efficient way possible. The third segment, fit to finish, hips, feet, hands and desire.
Pass blocking will be broken down the same way; The middle is the set, the optimal position to be in on the snap of the ball. How do we get there. Finish from contact to the ball being released.
Just like philosophies being different from team to team, athletes abilities will be dramatically different, Offensive line play isn’t one size fits all.
Long snapping, A job that doesn’t come with a lot of glory, but it has provided a platform for Student /Athletes to receive scholarships, get into better schools than their grades would provide and even collecting pay checks. I train this facet of the game the same way. Stance, start and finish
I love competition and enjoy seeing the best of each person I work with.
