Mychal Rivera is a former American football tight end. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Rivera grew up playing baseball, basketball, and football. Following his high school career, he played college football at the University of Tennessee having been drawn to the school by the its emphasis on tight ends in the offensive scheme. While at Tennessee, Rivera broke the single-season team record set for most receiving yards by a tight end and became one of two Tennessee Volunteer tight ends with more than 1,000 career receiving yards. In his senior season, Rivera was named All-SEC by both CBSSports and the SEC coaches, and All-SEC Second-team by the Associated Press.
He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. After four seasons and 10 touchdowns with the Raiders, Rivera signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017. That season Rivera suffered multiple injuries and was placed on injured reserve. Unable to fully recover from his injuries, he was forced to retire from playing in the NFL.
Rivera is now the Founder and President of The Drill League, a new professional football league, featuring football’s most famous practice drill and starring former college and NFL athletes.
He enjoys coaching and mentoring youth athletes. Rivera is an advocate for his Together Under Faith Foundation as well Alexandria House, Play 60, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. His hobbies include golf, tech, art, chess, boating, modeling and acting.
